A woman is facing possible criminal charges after allegedly trying to flee a police roadblock in Port Moody on Friday night.
According to Port Moody Police, the incident happened around 9:45 p.m. on August 8, 2025, when frontline officers were conducting a sobriety checkpoint on Murray Street. Police say the driver of an Audi SUV was pulled over after officers suspected she may be impaired by alcohol.
Instead of stopping, the driver allegedly sped away from the checkpoint. Officers quickly located the vehicle in Suter Brook Village and used their police cars to box it in, preventing her from escaping, police said.
The woman was arrested at the scene and taken to the police cellblock. Investigators say they are recommending charges for fleeing from police and impaired driving.
“Impaired drivers pose a significant risk to all road users, and we urge those who intend to consume alcohol or other impairing substances to plan a safe ride home,” said Const. Sam Zacharias. He noted the woman was one of three impaired drivers stopped in Port Moody within about an hour on Friday night.
