The Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce hosted a sold-out Mayors BBQ on September 18 at Gordon Ramsay Burger in Coquitlam, attended by business leaders, community members and civic officials, the chamber said in a press release.
Mayors from across the region attended, including Brad West (Port Coquitlam), Richard Stewart (Coquitlam), Acting Mayor Samantha Agtarap (Port Moody), Jamie Ross (Village of Belcarra), and John McEwen (Village of Anmore). Each shared updates on local developments, regional priorities, and responded to questions from attendees in an informal setting.
According to the chamber of commerce, guests enjoyed event sold out well in advance, highlighting strong community interest in civic engagement and regional growth.
“The Mayors BBQ is about creating connections and fostering open dialogue between our cities and the business community,” said Jennifer McKinnon, CEO of the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce. “We’re thrilled with the turnout and grateful to our mayors for their continued support and leadership.”
Mayor Richard Stewart discussed the impact of shifting political priorities on housing policy, emphasizing the need for consistent, long-term planning and coordinated infrastructure decisions. Mayor Brad West highlighted growing pressures on city infrastructure due to rapid population growth and called for increased provincial support.
Mayor John McEwen drew attention to challenges faced by smaller municipalities, including managing water supply and sewage systems with limited resources. Attendees also stressed the importance of community engagement and stronger partnerships between all levels of government.
The Chamber said it plans to continue hosting accessible events aimed at fostering economic development and partnerships throughout the Tri-Cities.
