Save-On-Foods has reopened in Port Moody after more than 40 years, with a new store at 221 Ioco Road in Heritage Mountain Shoppers Village. The 13,000-square-foot store opened at 8 a.m. on Friday, September 12, with celebrations continuing through September 14.

The store carries produce, meat, dairy, and grocery essentials, along with prepared foods such as sushi, bento boxes, and baked goods. Online orders for larger shops will continue to be fulfilled by the Sunwood e-commerce centre in Coquitlam.

“This store is a reflection of our commitment to serving each neighbourhood in a way that’s tailored to its unique needs,” said Jamie Nelson, president of Pattison Food Group, in a media release.

The Port Moody location is Save-On-Foods’ fifth store in the Tri-Cities and 189th across Western Canada and the Yukon. The company last operated in Port Moody in the 1980s under the Your Mark-It Foods banner.

Opening promotions include $10 gift cards for 500 shoppers on opening day. Customers who spend $50 or more through September 24 will be entered into a draw for a $500 gift card, with the winner announced on September 25. Exclusive in-store coupons are available until October 1.

“Port Moody is a special place, and we’re proud to be part of it,” said store manager Steve McCue. The opening weekend features food sampling, live demonstrations, and family activities.
