Staff Report
November 12, 2025 11:41pm

Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a Rainfall Warning for the Tri-Cities, including Coquitlam and Maple Ridge, as a slow-moving Pacific frontal system brings persistent and at times heavy rainfall to the region. As of 3:57 PM PST, Wednesday November 12, 2025, rain continues to fall across Metro Vancouver’s North Shore, Northeast sector, and Howe Sound, with 40 to 60 mm expected before conditions ease Thursday night.

Rain persists tonight with 10 to 20 mm expected, as southeast winds near 20 km/h develop close to midnight and temperatures remain steady near 11°C. On Thursday, another 20 to 30 mm of rain is forecast with southerly winds reaching 30 km/h, gusting to 50 km/h. Rain tapers to 5 to 10 mm in the evening before skies become cloudy.

Evening winds shift to southwest 20 km/h, except gusting to 40 near the water early evening, before becoming light later in the night with a low near 6°C.

Cloudy conditions follow on Friday with a high of 8°C, and rain returning Friday night with a low of 6°C. Saturday brings more rain and a high of 11°C, followed by nighttime showers and a low of 11°C. Sunday remains rainy with a high near 11°C, becoming cloudy at night with a 60% chance of showers and a low of +3°C.

A mix of sun and cloud is expected Monday, with a high of 9°C, before another 60% chance of showers Monday night and a low of +2°C. Tuesday remains cloudy with a 70% chance of showers and a high of 8°C.

The slow-moving frontal system is expected to continue producing steady rainfall through Thursday before easing. Pooling water, localized flooding, and reduced visibility are likely, and landslides may occur in vulnerable areas such as steep slopes, recently deforested areas, or burn scars.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated with the latest forecasts, use caution near creeks, rivers, and drainage channels, and report severe weather to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or on X using #BCStorm.
