Port Moody will host Precarious: A Transformative Musical Tale, a community play about the unregulated toxic drug crisis, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the Inlet Theatre. The Mission Overdose Community Action Team (MOCAT) announced the event in a press release on November 6, held in partnership with the Tri-Cities Community Action Team (TCCAT).

The performance begins at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $10 on a sliding scale, and organizers say no one will be turned away due to financial barriers. All proceeds support The Uplifting Group, which is collecting winter essentials to create and distribute care packages for unhoused community members.
Before and after the play, on-site community resources and naloxone training will be available. The event message, organizers say, is “Save a Life, Talk About It.”
According to MOCAT, Precarious is a community collage-style musical that shares real stories from the toxic drug crisis, combining history, lived experience, and community resilience. The production was nominated for a 2024 Fraser Valley Cultural Diversity Award.
MOCAT coordinator and artistic director Kat Wahamaa describes the play as “a weaving of some of the history of prohibition, the unraveling human tragedy of the fentanyl crisis, and a soulful celebration of the heroism of peers and families on the front lines,” adding that audiences will be invited to sing along to several songs.
TCCAT program coordinator Roxanne Saxon said the production aims to build understanding and inspire action. “Precarious is more than just a play; it’s a powerful tool for change. It sparks vital conversations, raises awareness, and fosters a deeper understanding of the toxic drug crisis,” she said, noting that overdose deaths remain at record levels across B.C.
