Port Moody has an officially registered municipal political party. Port Moody Voice has been registered by Elections BC and is set to give residents a stronger voice in shaping the city’s future, according to a press release posted by the party yesterday.
“For too long, residents have watched decisions at city hall move forward without meaningful consideration of community input. Whether on development, traffic, or park expansion, too many outcomes have not aligned with the needs of Port Moody families. Port Moody Voice was created to change that,” the party said in the release.
One among the members is Councillor Haven Lurbiecki, who was first elected in 2022. The press release states she has ‘consistently stood up for residents by championing moderate growth, advocating for affordable and livable housing, pushing for park expansion, and bringing transparency to city hall decision-making’.
Port Moody Voice will field a full team of qualified and dedicated candidates committed to building a livable, sustainable, and bright future for all who call Port Moody home.
“Residents, long-standing and new, know just how special Port Moody is. It’s why people have spoken up for their community, asking for sensible development that fits our city and for parks and infrastructure to keep pace with growth. Yet too often residents’ voices feel unheard, and many worry about the future of our community,” said Lurbiecki.
“Port Moody Voice is about changing that— it’s about electing a council you know will be guided by residents, for residents, ensuring Port Moody remains a special place today and for generations to come.”

Is this just a press release copied and pasted? Or is there any journalism happening here? There were some statements by the mayor, at bare minimum a journalist could challenge some of their advertising statements.
In addition it is not unlike a councillor who has been an obstructionist since day if of being elected to call into question the direction of the current council when she has voted against a majority of what has been done so far.
