According to police, 31-year-old Trenton Henneberg has been charged following an extensive investigation by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) and remains in custody.

Moore was reported missing to Surrey RCMP on November 18, 2024, after her family had not heard from her for several weeks. Investigators determined she was last seen at a hotel in Langley and that no one had been in contact with her since late October.

By December 11, 2024, IHIT took over the case after evidence suggested foul play. Working alongside the Langley RCMP Serious Crime Unit and the Integrated Forensic Identification Services, investigators pieced together a timeline of events and executed searches across the province in an effort to locate Moore’s remains.

After a months-long investigation, IHIT announced that on October 31, 2025, homicide investigators arrested Henneberg. The BC Prosecution Service has since approved charges of second-degree murder and indignity to human remains. Police say Moore and Henneberg were known to each other, and the incident is not believed to be random.

“This is the kind of investigation that keeps us up at night,” said Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT. “I am so proud of the unwavering dedication and tremendous investigative efforts of our team.”

Fong added that while the charges mark a major step, significant work remains as the case moves to court. “It has been an extremely difficult time for Chantelle’s parents, and we continue to offer them support throughout the court proceedings.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
