The City of Port Moody invites residents and visitors to mark their calendars for Car-Free Day on Sunday, August 17, 2025. This community celebration, filled with live music, delicious food, and activities for all ages, will take place on St. Johns Street, between Queens and Moody streets, from 12 noon to 5 pm.
“Last year, more than 12,000 people enjoyed Car-Free Day and 100 local businesses, non-profit groups, and artisans had a chance to connect with Port Moody residents and visitors from around Metro Vancouver. We’re getting ready for another amazing celebration this summer, and I invite everyone to participate,” the city said.
“Our Council and City staff understand that the recent tragic incident at the Lapu Lapu Day festival still weighs heavily on community members’ hearts and minds,” says Mayor Meghan Lahti. “We want to assure everyone that the safety of our residents and visitors is our top priority, and we are committed to delivering a safe and welcoming community event. As we do every year, staff work with Port Moody Police and a traffic management company to ensure that security measures are in place for Car-Free Day. We look forward to connecting with you at this much-loved event.”
St. Johns Street will be lined with booths from local businesses, artisans, and non-profit groups. There will be an entertainment stage, a tent for live music and performances, family-friendly seating areas, food trucks, and extended, licensed patios at a few local restaurants. The City of Port Moody would like to thank its 2025 Car-Free Day partner, TransLink.
Please note that on August 17, 2025, St. Johns Street, between Douglas and Moody streets, will be closed to all vehicle traffic from 6 am to 10 pm. Commuters and residents will be directed to use alternative routes such as Clarke Street.
