A local big band ensemble will bring classic and contemporary jazz sounds to Port Moody’  Inlet United Church next month, according to a Church press release.

The FAT Jazz Big Band have been performing in the lower mainland for more than 30 years, and are set to perform at Inlet United Church’s Jazz Café on Saturday, November 8, at 3 p.m. The event will take place at the church’s Spring Street location, with doors opening at 2:30 p.m.

According to Inlet United Church, the group will perform two 45-minute sets featuring music from the 1930s to the present, including songs by Norah Jones, Michael Bublé, and Bruno Mars. The band’s vocalist, Krista Wallace, will also be featured.

Tickets are $25 and include hot beverages and dessert served during intermission.

The ensemble, whose name stands for “Friends And Teachers,” includes local musicians and educators, many from the Tri-Cities area.

“Come join us in the joyful sounds of FAT Jazz as we enjoy this powerhouse of entertainment. You’ll be ready to dance, we promise,” said Rev. Jenn Swanson, minister at Inlet United Church.

Seats can be reserved by contacting the church office by phone or email.
