A local shop owner is appealing for help after over $10,000 of merchandise was stolen from his toy and collectibles store in Port Coquitlam.
Chris Walton, owner of Hunter’s Toys and Collectibles, says two suspects broke into his shop early Friday morning, smashing the front door and making off with high-value items, including rare RC cars, chargers, and batteries. The video from the store also captures a dramatic video of a Good Samaritan trying to stop the theft. The citizen was maced twice, and the video shows the suspect driving away with the Good Samaritan on the roof of their getaway vehicle.
Walton is asking the public to watch for distinctive items that were taken, including a Traxxas orange Funco, a JATO RC car with Louise tires, two two-wheel drive Slash vehicles—one red, the other pink and purple—and several ESCs, chargers, and collectible Hot Wheels. ” Things like this, I guess, do happen, and it’s not something that I think anybody wishes, but if anybody could shed some light on where some of these items are, I would greatly appreciate that,” he says.
Some rare items were stolen, and the break-in also disrupted an ongoing raffle. Walton says the stolen prize will be replaced. “For those of you who had bought a raffle ticket, we will buy another Funco to ensure that your spot or number is not lost.”

While much of the store was left intact, Walton described it as a “nightmare” and shared images of damaged locks, scattered inventory, and a torn security gate. Coquitlam RCMP are investigating. Anyone with information about the suspects or the stolen items is urged to contact police or Walton directly.
