Port Coquitlam dog owners have until February 2, 2026, to take advantage of a $15 discount on 2026 dog licences. Until the deadline, licences cost $32 for spayed or neutered dogs and $80 for unspayed or unneutered dogs.

All dogs six months and older are required to be licensed in the city. Licence fees support essential services, including sheltering and adoption of stray animals, as well as bylaw enforcement related to dogs at large, bites, excessive barking, aggressive behaviour, and dog waste in public spaces.

Dog owners can apply or renew licences online at portcoquitlam.ca/doglicence, in person at City Hall in 2580 Shaughnessy St., via a secure 24-hour drop box, or through bank payments, with the discount applied only if payment is received by February 2.

Port Coquitlam also offers several off-leash dog areas for residents. Fenced locations include the Downtown Off-Leash Dog Area, Shaughnessy Park, and Lions Park, all accessible from the Traboulay PoCo Trail. Unfenced areas include Chelsea Park, Skyline Park, and Castle Park, according to the city.

Residents have a chance to win one of three free dog licences by sharing a photo of their pet on the City’s social media platforms by January 31. Photos can be submitted via Instagram, Bluesky, X with the hashtag #pocodoggo and tagging @cityofpoco, or on Facebook in the comments of related posts. In 2025, more than 300 dog photos were submitted.
