A 31-year-old Port Coquitlam man has been charged in connection with the 2020 homicide of 24-year-old Edi Bogere, whose body was discovered in a wooded area of Maple Ridge nearly five years ago, according to an IHIT Media Release.
Investigators with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) announced that Alan Mohammed Taheri has been charged with second-degree murder with a firearm and indignity to human remains. The BC Prosecution Service approved the charges following a years-long investigation into Bogere’s death.
According to IHIT, Bogere’s body was found on January 11, 2020, on a vacant forested property in Maple Ridge. The Ridge Meadows RCMP determined the death to be suspicious and called in IHIT to lead the investigation. Police determined that Bogere was last seen leaving his Coquitlam home on December 27, 2019.
IHIT worked closely with the Ridge Meadows RCMP, Coquitlam RCMP, and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS) to gather evidence and identify a suspect.
In the media release, IHIT said investigators “worked diligently on a years-long investigation” to establish the circumstances surrounding Bogere’s death. On December 19, 2025, officers arrested Taheri in Port Coquitlam.

“Homicide investigations can take years of hard work and patience, and this is just one example of the meticulousness that homicide work entails,” said Supt. Mandeep Mooker, Officer-in-Charge of IHIT. “These are complex investigations and reaching the charge approval stage doesn’t happen overnight. We commend the investigators for their persistence, and we thank Mr. Bogere’s family for their continued trust and support throughout this investigation.”
IHIT said no further information will be released as the matter is now before the court.
