Assault with weapon in Port Coquitlam; police seek witnesses

Coquitlam RCMP is seeking witnesses and video to an alleged assault with a weapon.

On January 10, 2026, at approximately 11:45 a.m. Coquitlam RCMP frontline officers responded to an alleged assault with a weapon in the 2800 block of Shaughnessy Street in Port Coquitlam.

The victim was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Due to the nature of the injuries, officer have not yet been able to speak with the victim.

The suspect left the area on foot prior to police arriving and investigators are actively working to identify him.  At this time police do not believe the suspect and victim were known to each other.
