Drivers in Coquitlam are being warned to expect delays on Thursday morning as more than 700 motorcyclists, members of the Hells Angels, participate in a large procession heading to Surrey.
The ride is expected to begin at 11:30 a.m. in Coquitlam on June 12 and travel southbound and will end at a banquet hall in the 12300 block of Patullo Place in Surrey.
Police in Surrey say the event is part of a broader gathering of outlaw motorcycle gang members and will be closely monitored by officers from multiple jurisdictions, including the Surrey Police Service and Coquitlam RCMP.
In Surrey, the procession is expected to cause traffic disruptions on several major routes, including Highway 15 northbound from Highway 1, Highway 17 to Bridgeview Drive, Bridgeview Drive to King George Boulevard, and along King George Boulevard to 120 Street. The traffic impact is expected to last until around noon.
“Police will be stationed at key intersections to ensure public safety,” Surrey Police Service said in a statement.
