Police are investigating an attempted break-in after a woman reported a frightening encounter at her home in the Glenbrooke North neighbourhood on the evening of April 4.
According to the New Westminster Police Department (NWPD), officers responded to a 9-1-1 call at approximately 8:30 p.m. from a resident in the 900 block of 4th Street. The caller told police she discovered a shattered kitchen window and saw an unknown individual at her patio door. The suspect fled when she screamed.
Responding officers searched the area and processed the scene for evidence. Investigators have since identified a person of interest.
“This is an upsetting incident and we understand how deeply concerning this was for the victim as well as the community as a whole,” said Sergeant Andrew Leaver. “We believe this person of interest may have committed other crimes in the area of Glenbrooke North. We’re asking anyone who witnessed suspicious activity that evening to give us a call—what you saw may greatly assist us with this investigation.”
