Pinnacle Ridge Hillside development is just right for Anmore

Anmore is a small community where most of the residents know each other. And that’s why when we build something here, we owe each other transparency and accountability.

I’ve lived in Anmore for nearly two decades, and like so many of my neighbours, I care deeply about what makes this village special. Anmore is where I’ve raised my family, and where I walk the trails. I want to see our community protect its semi-rural character. The question has never been whether Anmore should add new homes. It’s how we can do so to make sure that growth matches Anmore families’ needs, protects the things we love about Anmore, and is fiscally responsible to the village.

Pinnacle Ridge Hillside is a development I’m involved in because I believe it’s right for Anmore. Our plan is for 269 homes to be built gradually over the next ten years. It’s the homes we need so our kids – including my very own – can raise their own families without leaving Anmore. It includes some townhomes, so that when empty-nesters are ready to downsize to a low-maintenance option, they can do so here, rather than moving away.

We’re building Pinnacle Ridge Hillside to help keep our families close.

The housing mix also reflects what I’ve heard so many of our neighbours say they want:   more young families who hope to settle here and make sure our school stays open and vibrant.

The land itself has been carefully studied. Most of the proposed development is situated on slopes of less than 30 percent, and the steeper sections have been factored into the road design by professional engineers. Just as important, large portions of the hillside will remain preserved, ensuring that the views we all treasure from the valley won’t change. Protecting Anmore’s natural beauty and semi-rural feel is an essential piece of our plan.

The project also offers community benefits that I’m excited to see as a resident. More than 2.5 kilometres of new walking and biking trails will connect into the pathways we already use. A new family park and greenspace are part of the design as well. Critically, the project will bring a new water reservoir – an investment that will strengthen the entire village’s wildfire safety.

Pinnacle Ridge Hillside is in full compliance with Anmore’s Official Community Plan. The land has long been zoned for residential use, and this proposal works within that framework. This is a simple rezoning application because in addition to free-standing homes on large lots, we’re planning some semi-detached homes and townhomes – the kind of homes I want my kids to buy, and my parents to downsize into when they’re ready for a maintenance-free home. What makes it different is the way it’s been designed – at the right scale, with a focus on both environmental preservation and community needs. As someone who lives here, that matters to me.

Anmore’s Housing Needs Assessment as required by the Province calls for 750 new homes over the next 20 years, and the Village has until the end of 2025 to show a plan to accommodate that. I believe low-rise apartment blocks are not the right fit for our semi-rural feel. Pinnacle Ridge is the right choice to start building just what we need, in just the way Anmore families want.

Living in Anmore has always been about more than just where we live. It’s about the kind of village – and lifestyle – we want to pass on to our children and grandchildren. Pinnacle Ridge Hillside respects that.

We also respect the right of every Anmore resident to access all the information about Pinnacle Ridge Hillside. We’re working hard to be transparent and accountable, and to listen carefully to your feedback.
