The new courts will be built just north of Trevor Wingrove Way, at the current site of the Recycling Depot and East Works Yard.

Coquitlam is set to begin work on relocating and expanding its tennis facilities at Town Centre Park, with plans to add more courts, a new support building, and additional park improvements.

The project will increase the number of courts from 8.5 to 10 full-size courts and one half court, featuring high-quality playing surfaces, LED sports lighting, spectator seating, a bottle refill station, and four accessible parking stalls. A new energy-efficient support building will replace the aging clubhouse, offering modern amenities for players and the community. Landscaping and tree plantings will integrate the facility into the park environment.

The new courts will be built just north of Trevor Wingrove Way, at the current site of the Recycling Depot and East Works Yard. By the Town Centre Park Master Plan adopted in 2018, the existing courts will remain open until the new facility is completed. Once relocated, the current tennis area will be restored to open lawn space for community events, festivals, and casual recreation.

As part of the project, the Town Centre Recycling Depot will permanently close in early 2026 to make way for the new tennis facility. Residents can continue to access recycling services at the Metro Vancouver-funded United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Centre and at Return-It Depots throughout the city.

The relocation also coordinates with Metro Vancouver’s Coquitlam Water Main Project along Pipeline Road, scheduled to begin its second phase in fall 2026 and continue until 2034. To minimize disruption for park users, the city will start the tennis facility project earlier than originally planned.

Construction on the new tennis courts and facilities is expected to begin in 2026
