Coquitlam transit riders will see more buses on the road starting September 1, as TransLink adds service on 53 routes across Metro Vancouver — including several that run through the Tri-Cities.
In a blog post, TransLink announced that the changes are part of its Fall Service Update, aimed at reducing wait times, easing crowding, and improving access to schools, workplaces, and busy travel corridors. The agency said this is the largest increase in bus service since 2018, made possible through its 2025 Investment Plan.
For Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam, the changes include more service on the 191 Coquitlam Central–Princeton, 188 Coquitlam Central–Port Coquitlam Station, and 791 Braid Station–Haney Place routes. Riders heading to Simon Fraser University and other post-secondary campuses will also benefit from increases on the 143 SFU/Burquitlam Station and 145 SFU/Production Station routes.
Elsewhere in the region, service is being restored on university routes such as the 44 UBC, 143 SFU, 145 SFU, and 245 Capilano University, along with added frequency on several major Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, and Langley lines. TransLink is also scaling back its summer-only routes after Labour Day.
Seasonal buses serving destinations such as Spanish Banks, White Pine Beach, and Buntzen Lake will wrap up for the year, along with the 900 Bike Bus. A full list of affected routes and schedules is available at translink.ca/servicechanges
