The Inlet United Church on Ioco Road will mark its 100-year milestone with a public celebration on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The wooden heritage church, which opened in 1924 at 1790 Ioco Road, served the former Imperial Oil Company townsite. With its original pews, stained-glass windows and a working steeple bell, the sanctuary remains a distinctive reminder of the area’s early industrial era.
An anniversary event planned for December 2024 was postponed after heavy autumn rains caused flooding in the building’s basement. Repairs are now complete, and organizers are inviting the wider community to join the rescheduled festivities.
Centennial activities will include guided tours of the church, mini worship services and a bake sale. Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to “come as you are” to learn about the site’s unique history and ongoing role in the community.
