The Lower Mainland Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (LMDCVE) group carried out a planned commercial vehicle inspection initiative on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, along Lougheed Highway at Kingsland Drive. The operation resulted in more than half of the inspected vehicles being taken off the road for safety violations.
Officers conducted 40 inspections and placed 21 commercial vehicles out of service. In total, 99 violations were identified and 54 violation tickets were issued.
A notable incident occurred when officers stopped a dump truck displaying illegible dangerous goods placards. Investigators soon discovered the driver had been impersonating his own brother—who was sitting in the passenger seat—because he was prohibited from driving due to a prior impaired driving offence investigated by Burnaby RCMP. The investigation is ongoing and appropriate charges will be forwarded.
“The number of trucks being placed out of service is still way too high, and this particular driver now faces several potential charges, including impersonation and obstruction,” said Cst. Kevin Connolly of Burnaby RCMP Traffic Services. “We plan on continuing these types of initiatives across the Lower Mainland, into the new year and beyond.”
