The pool, fitness centre, and café at Coquitlam’s City Centre Aquatic Complex will close for annual maintenance starting Tuesday, September 2. The fitness centre is scheduled to reopen on September 9, while the pool and café will resume operations on October 6.

During the interim, the fitness centre will operate from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

The facility will remain closed on Sundays. In a press release, the City of Coquitlam said the front desk will close 30 minutes before the centre’s closing time, with no admissions allowed after that. City officials emphasized that the closure is essential for cleaning, which cannot be performed while the complex is in use.

Regular maintenance helps ensure a safe environment for staff and visitors, prevents equipment failures, and prolongs the life of the facility, the City said. Patrons looking for alternatives have several options. The Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex remains open, with hours and details available online at coquitlam.ca/PSLC. Outdoor swimming is also available at Mundy Park Pool until October 5, with schedules listed at coquitlam.ca/MundyParkPool.

Residents can also access drop-in fitness classes and weight rooms at various city facilities (coquitlam.ca/Fitness) or take advantage of the Bettie Allard YMCA (555 Emerson Street) through special resident rates, without requiring a YMCA membership.

Full details are available at gv.ymca.ca/coquitlam-resident-access-rate.
