City of Coquitlam says work will begin soon to relocate and expand tennis facilities at the Town Centre Park, with the Town Centre Park Recycling Depot’s last day of operations scheduled for February 1, 2026.

In line with the Town Centre Park Master Plan, 10 full-size tennis courts and one half-court will be built north of Trevor Wingrove Way, where the Recycling Depot and East Works Yard currently stand.

The new facility will feature high-quality playing surfaces, LED sports lighting, spectator seating, a bottle refill station, and four accessible parking stalls. A new energy-efficient support building will replace the aging clubhouse and provide modern meeting space for players and the community, the city said in a news release.

The existing tennis courts will remain open until construction begins. Once the new courts are built, the old courts will be restored to open lawn space for community events, casual play, picnics, and relaxation. Landscaping and tree plantings will help the facility blend into the surrounding park.

Construction is expected to start in 2026, with the new courts opening in 2027. Updates will be shared at coquitlam.ca/TCPUpgrades. Coquitlam residents have alternative recycling options, including retail stores, bottle depots, and the Metro Vancouver United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Centre, which accepts a wide range of materials, the city noted.

The city also offers programs such as city-wide garage sales, repair cafes, large-item pickup, seasonal yard-trimming collection, and free curbside recycling through Recycle BC. In 2025, Coquitlam residents diverted 70 per cent of household waste from landfills, above the regional average of 65 per cent.
