The City of Coquitlam is seeking input on proposed land use changes in and around provincially designated Transit-Oriented Areas (TOAs) in Southwest Coquitlam.
In a press release, the city said the proposed changes respond to new provincial rules in Transit-Oriented Areas and guide how homes, parks, transportation networks, and commercial spaces evolve in nearby areas called shoulders (areas next to the Burquitlam and Lougheed Town Centre SkyTrain Station Transit-Oriented Areas), and on Austin and Como Lake Avenues.
Residents are invited to share their thoughts at an in-person or virtual information session, participate in a community roundtable conversation, complete an online survey, or add a comment to the interactive map. The city says the feedback will help refine the proposed land use concepts before they are presented to City Council for consideration this fall. Public feedback will be considered alongside legislated requirements, technical studies, best practices, and Council feedback to inform the development of a new land use plan for these areas of Coquitlam.

We have to fight and say NO to all the proposed high rises in Coquitlam!!! The Provincial government is trying to force the people to sell to help with the transit infrastructure!!! Already too crowded and traffic is going to be even more congested!! DO NOT SELL your home to developers!!! They are trying to eliminate single family homes and where will you go??? Let the government know how you feel?!! Do what is right and fight!!!
