Coquitlam RCMP is asking the public for help after a fire damaged an abandoned apartment building in Coquitlam early Sunday morning. According to a media release issued by Coquitlam RCMP, emergency crews responded at about 5 a.m. on Dec. 7 to a structure fire at 727 North Road. The building was vacant and scheduled for demolition.

Coquitlam Fire and Rescue crews quickly brought the blaze under control. No injuries were reported. Police say the fire remains under investigation by the detachment’s General Investigation Section. No cause has been confirmed at this time.

“We are asking anyone who may have witnessed the fire or has video footage to contact Coquitlam RCMP,” said Acting Sgt. George Han in the release. Investigators are requesting any CCTV, dash camera, or cellphone footage from the area around North Road during the early morning hours when the fire occurred.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 604-945-1550 and reference file number 2025-31475, according to Coquitlam RCMP. The building had been unoccupied and was slated for demolition prior to the fire.
