The Coquitlam Public Library’s City Centre branch will receive upgrades this fall, including new carpeting and fresh paint. According to a press release, the work is part of a planned refresh project to brighten and update the space.
The branch will remain open during the project, but with adjusted hours and some restricted access to areas. New hours are Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
To help prepare for the refresh, the library is asking patrons to borrow as much of the collection as possible from the City Centre branch. Officials say this will make the packing process easier while giving residents more time to enjoy materials.
As a bonus, items normally loaned for 21 days and checked out at the branch between Sept. 7 and Sept. 28 will be automatically extended to 42 days. The extension applies only to 21-day loan items borrowed at City Centre. Express books and movies, digital material, lendable technology, and interlibrary loans are excluded.
“We’re excited to give the City Centre branch a fresh update and to support our patrons during the transition,” said a library representative. “This extended borrowing period is just one way we’re making the process more convenient for our community.” People can peruse the online catalogue.
