Coquitlam Express has fired its goalie coach, 58-year-old Ronald Veit, following charges related to sexual misconduct allegations, the team said in a social media post on Instagram. The post confirmed Veit’s employment has been terminated and is no longer affiliated with the team in any capacity.
“While these charges are not related to his time with our organization, the safety and well-being of our players, families, and community remains our highest priority,” the statement said.
According to a news release from the New Westminster Police Department, Veit faces charges of Sexual Interference (2008–2010), Sexual Exploitation (2010–2012), and Sexual Assault (2008–2012). The alleged offences took place in or near Langley, Surrey, New Westminster, Coquitlam, and Burnaby.
While the charges are laid, the allegations have not been proven in court. The Major Crime Unit is adopting a victim-centered approach and working closely with the Victim Assistance Unit.
“We encourage anyone with information that can assist in our ongoing investigation to come forward,” Sergeant Andrew Leaver of the New Westminster Police Department stated. “We understand the challenges victims face in reporting such incidents and want to reassure the public that we take these matters very seriously and resources and support are available.”

Veit was released from court under a series of strict conditions. He must not possess weapons or volunteer with persons under 18. He is barred from parks, schools, community centres, and playgrounds, and must not communicate with anyone under 18 unless in the presence of a parent or guardian or in a public commercial setting.
He is permitted at skating rinks, where he may continue to coach hockey in the presence of other adults.
