Drivers should expect delays and detours beginning this week on Lougheed and Barnet Highways.
Overnight roadwork on Lougheed Highway begins on Thursday, June 26, and will continue over two consecutive weekends, from Thursday night through Saturday night, weather permitting. Crews will be on site from 10 pm to 5 am on weeknights and from 10 pm to 7 am on weekend nights.
Traffic will be routed around the work zone via Westwood Street or Mariner Way. Once the Lougheed paving is complete, crews will move to Barnet Highway. That phase is expected to take approximately one week, with work scheduled on weeknights only, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Drivers are advised to follow posted signs and allow extra time for travel.
A separate overnight closure is planned for Highway 1 between Exit 37 (Gaglardi Way) and Exit 40 (Brunette Avenue). Beginning at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, June 27, and ending at 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, both the right and centre lanes of the 3.2-kilometre stretch will be closed while crews load materials for the Millennium Line extension.
Drivers should slow down near the work zone and be prepared for lane changes
