Tri-Cities residents have launched Coats for Cold 2025, a winter clothing drive to support those experiencing homelessness or financial hardship. The volunteer-led effort began on November 18 and runs until December 16, according to a press release by the Connective and Tri-Cities Homelessness & Housing Task Group.
The initiative comes as temperatures drop and wet winter weather settles into the region. Organizers aim to collect at least 200 winter coats, along with hats, scarves, gloves, and other warm clothing. According to the release, all donated items will be distributed through the Tri-Cities Homelessness & Housing Task Group and Connective to ensure support remains within the community.
Donations of clean, gently used, or new items can be dropped off at the following Coquitlam addresses:
– 2986 Forestridge Place, Coquitlam, BC V3E 3M6
– 477 Lakeview Street, Coquitlam, BC V3K 5K7
The release said the clothing drive is designed as a community-wide effort to offer practical, warming support. “This time of year, spirits may be rising, but the temperature is still falling,” he said in the release. “Warm clothing is a necessity that many local residents struggle to access. Even one coat can make a real difference to someone unhoused or facing financial hardship this winter.”
The project is structured to keep all donations within the Tri-Cities so that local residents directly benefit from the support. Questions about the initiative can be directed to Heffernan at 604-217-4972 or seamus.heffernan@connective.ca
