Conservation officers are investigating after a black bear attacked a woman in Anmore on Tuesday.
According to the BC Conservation Officer Service (COS), the incident happened shortly before noon when the woman encountered a black bear outside her home. The bear came around the corner of her house and advanced toward her. Despite her efforts to scare it away, the bear continued approaching and bit her.
The woman was able to escape by using a garden hose to spray the animal. She has received treatment for her injuries. COS officers responded to the scene but were unable to locate a bear in the area. Officers have set up a bear trap as the investigation continues.
The COS is reminding the public to stay alert in bear country and take safety precautions, including keeping pets leashed and being aware of surroundings during outdoor activities.
