The City of Port Moody is inviting residents to share feedback on the redevelopment of the Kyle Centre site, which includes plans for a new 30,000-square-foot community centre, an expanded park, and a new public plaza.

The new facility would replace the existing Kyle Centre at 125 Kyle Street. According to the City, the project is in its first phase, focused on conceptual design, site planning, and cost estimation for future phases.

Future phases would include detailed design of the site, construction of the community centre and plaza, and development of the new and expanded Kyle Park.

Residents can participate through in-person open houses, a virtual session, or an online survey. Two open houses will be held at the current Kyle Centre on Saturday, October 4, from 1:30 to 3 p.m., and Tuesday, October 7, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. An online information session will take place Thursday, October 9, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. via Zoom.

A community survey is also open until October 19. Surveys can be completed online at https://engage.portmoody.ca/ or picked up in print at City Hall and returned by October 17.

“Community input is a valuable part of our process,” the City stated. “It is considered by staff when developing plans and by Council during decision-making.” The City notes that aquatic facilities and arena surfaces are not under consideration for the new centre. A second round of public engagement on the conceptual design is planned for early 2026.

Before moving to the next phases, Council will review the proposed funding strategy to ensure the project is financially viable. Pending Council approval, the redevelopment would continue through detailed design, construction, and park expansion.
